About Me

I came to psychotherapy after spending more than three decades working in senior professional roles in industry, living and working in both London and Sydney.

During those years I experienced first-hand many of the pressures that modern working life can create: long hours, responsibility for others, organisational politics, difficult decisions, uncertainty, and the way professional demands can gradually affect relationships, wellbeing, and one’s sense of identity.

My own career experience means I bring something slightly different to therapy.

I understand that emotional difficulties do not always look obvious from the outside.

Often the people I work with are functioning well in many areas of life. They continue performing at work, caring for family, meeting obligations, and appearing outwardly successful.

But internally they may be experiencing anxiety, chronic stress, anger, depression, loneliness, self-doubt, or repeating relationship patterns that leave them feeling frustrated or disconnected.

After retraining as a psychotherapist, I developed an integrative approach, drawing on psychodynamic understanding alongside practical therapeutic techniques where helpful.

I believe lasting change often comes not simply from managing symptoms, but from understanding the deeper patterns, relationships, and experiences that shape how we respond to the world.

Therapy offers an opportunity to understand yourself more clearly, develop greater freedom in how you respond to life, and begin changing patterns that may have been present for many years.

My Story

I am an integrative counsellor, trained in psychodynamic and person-centred approaches, but I also use Cognitive Based Therapy (CBT) and other mindfulness practices to help bring us back to the present.

My professional background was in IT where I worked for over 30 years, in increasingly managerial roles, following graduating from Oxford in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. I became increasingly dissatisfied with this way of life, and influenced and shaped by my own experiences of bereavement I took redundancy in 2020 and re-trained as a counsellor, initially in Guildford and later in Islington. I spent 2 years working for Care to Listen, a low-cost agency based in Croydon, and have recently moved to private practice operating out of rooms in Clapham and Battersea.

I offer support for a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, anger management, work-related stress and relationship issues. Every client is different, there can be no one-size-fits-all approach, so I create a tailor-made approach for every client, recognising your unique lived experiences. The relationship between counsellor and client is central to this process, and I strive to foster a collaborative and open environment where you feel able to talk about anything.
